Vast ocean views from every window in the home, surfers and playful marine life to observe, easy beach access, and close proximity to coffee shops and restaurants are all yours in this modern 1490 SF, 3rd story penthouse condo that comfortably sleeps 4 in beds, or 5 with the queen size sofa sleeper (with the best view in the house!).
This penthouse home, serviced by an elevator, sits at the edge of the Pacific Ocean so there are NO obstructions to the beauty of the water, the shore and sunsets, the surfers, and the soothing sounds of the waves and surf.
A spacious modern living room hosts ocean views, a large smart flat screen TV, and comfortable seating to soak it all in. A comfortable dining room with seating for 6 is accompanied by a modern kitchen, with large kitchen island (great for working remote or a snack bar!), includes everything you need to create meals and snacks for everyone at any time.
The master king bedroom has a stunning ocean view, a ceiling fan to keep you comfortable, and a bath with a large walk-in shower. There is also a queen guest bedroom with a shared hallway bath. Both bedrooms have portable AC units (PARTIAL AC), easily available in the home for your use, should you desire cooler days or nights. Both mattresses in the bedrooms are soft and the sleeper sofa mattress is firm.
Additional amenities include a washer and dryer for your convenience, WIFI, and cable and a garage parking space.
This home is a treasure if you want to experience sweeping ocean views and be able to observe all the delights the Pacific Ocean offers right in front of you. Oh, and those beautiful sunsets - breathtaking! Sit on top of the world watching the ocean come alive with all of its motions and sea life.

There are additional beaches close by, as is freeway access, so you can easily enjoy some of San Diego's world-class attractions such as The San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and so much more. Legoland and the Safari Animal Park are just a 40-minute drive away too.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PROPERTY:
This property will allow up to 5 adults, or up to 6 with children in the mix. We ask that you please ensure your group fits this dynamic before booking.
No smoking is allowed inside or outside any of our properties. NO EXCEPTIONS!
There is no outside area to this rental so there is also no BBQ available.
There is an elevator and wheelchair access to this home but there may be stairs to the beach, so it may not be appropriate for everyone.
This historic building does not have central AC but portable units are available for use in the bedrooms.
This home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is only suitable for quiet groups. Our rental agreement includes a NO tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy, and/or parties. Deposit forfeitures and/or evictions are strictly enforced. Please make sure you are comfortable with these policies before renting with us.
This home is equipped with exterior surveillance & decibel meters, as required by local city noise ordinance. Please note that this home has a camera facing the front door and there is a noise monitor.
Parking notes: There is one space available within the closed garage and one space is permitted outside the individual garage door tandem. The garage is shallow (6ft height MAX, 8ft width); no lifted cars or large trucks will fit. Any height is OK outside the garage, as this is uncovered, but cannot exceed 20ft in length. Overnight street parking is also permitted.
You must be 25 years or older to rent this property.
Your reservation will be confirmed once the Occupancy Agreement has been signed and the initial payment has been received. Photo ID and Credit Card photo verification required to complete booking.
We do not accept American Express & Discover.
San Diego Vacation Rentals Cancellation Policy and Pet Fee Policy supersedes the policies of VRBO and AirBnb.
Our cancellation policy will allow you to cancel your reservation up to 30 days prior to your arrival. There is a cancellation fee of 10% of the total payment or $300, whichever is higher. If you cancel your reservation within 30 days of your arrival, there are NO REFUNDS. If you feel that this may cause an issue with your travel itinerary and availability, please consider Travel Insurance.

Amazing condo and location. The view is unbelievable. First time walking in felt surreal because of the amazing views. You can watch surfers from sun up to sun down which is entertaining. The beach is extremely close and there is a nice water hose rinse off outside garage of condo. No AC but is absolutely not a problem at all (we came in middle of summer and it was always comfortable). All windows have auto blackout shades and the main windows even have sun shades too which is convenient. The street it is located on is not too busy nor too loud. We brought our three young children and it wasn’t a problem. We’ve stayed at many VRBOs along the California coast, from San Diego to Newport Beach, and this was, without question, our favorite stay. The photos simply don’t do this property justice.The panoramic ocean and beach views were absolutely breathtaking. Sitting in the living room felt like being right on the sand, with the sights and sounds of the ocean surrounding you. Beach access couldn’t have been easier—just a short walk across the road and you’re there. Parking was also incredibly convenient.The beds were very comfortable, and falling asleep to the cool ocean breeze and the sound of the waves each night was pure relaxation. Wonderful Stay!
This is a lovely, spacious, well equipped condo right off Windandsea beach. We are a family of 5, and stayed comfortably. There are beach chairs and toys for use. Indoor parking. Good sized washer and dryer. And the kitchen has all the appliances and tools we needed. You can walk easily to the tide pools, and seal beach, and lots of restaurants. Awesome Time!
The condo was amazing. The views were stunning. We had an awesome time. Only thing negative is that no full size SUV will fit in the garage. The driveway is too steep. You just have to park in front of the garage. And you have to understand the location. You are off the beaten path a ways and it’s a hump to get to anything. Just wanted to leave an honest review. This beach house is perfect for a family of four or two couples. It is located in the penthouse of a residential building with amazing views of the ocean, sunset and people watching. The front oceanside and north side of the home is a wall of floor to ceiling windows. The check in process was easy and the property manager was prompt to answer any questions. We could walk to local places to eat and pick up groceries. You really do not need a rental car, if you don't mind walking a little bit. The home is fully stocked with high quality linens and beach towels. The owner has left air conditioning units that really are not required but good to have as an option. I loved that our teenagers could watch TV with the owner-provided wireless headphones so we could enjoy watching the surfers in peace! One of our teens slept in the second bedroom, and the other opted for the sleeper sofa in the main room (very comfortable). Floor-to-ceiling windows can warm the living room in the afternoon, but we lowered the sunshades, cracked open the lower sliding windows and stayed comfortable. Both bedrooms had AC to keep cool. Those Views... from Every Room!
The property is located on the top floor of a three-story building. There are floor-to-ceiling arched windows on two sides with nothing to obstruct your view of the crashing waves. Sunsets are magnificent. Surfers are constantly carving the perfect center break at WindanSea Beach. Gulls wheel and Pelicans skim the waves in formation. Further out there are boats: fishing, cargo, military and sail. There`s a spotting scope for getting a closer look. Enjoy a parade of photo shoots on the rocks and around the surfers palm palapa. The setting is so great that the newly engaged come here to have their pictures taken as do actresses, sports teams and Quinceaneras. At low tide WindanSea, immortalized in Tom Wolfe`s short story, The Pump House Gang, is a perfect swimming beach with dozens of semi private nooks formed by the jumble of rocks. You can easily walk to a handful of good restaurants and cafes. Our favorite is the Promiscuous Fork. The La Jolla Cove is 2 miles away. A few minutes by Uber, bike or electric scooter. Parking could be a challenge in the summer, but the condo comes with two spaces (one inside the garage). The building is midcentury modern designed by Henry Hester in 1968. The original architectural drawings are on the walls of the condo. There are beach toys in an owner`s locker in the garage and a sauna for warming up after a dip in the chilly Pacific. The Condo itself is open plan and looks to have been recently renovated with new paint, en suite washer/dryer, silent dishwasher and restored and replicated mid century modern furniture. The beds are very comfortable. There are two new Samsung TV`s but really we never turned them on. We spent our time while in the condo enjoying the view. The reservation and check in process were very easy. The directions say come down Bonair from La Jolla Village Drive but you would actually do better to come down Playa del Norte. Since that is where the garage entrance is. You`ll have to park and walk around the building to enter and open the garage door but that is easier than driving your car four blocks to make a legal entrance to the garage. Great Experience! Definitely Planning to Return!
With all of the COVID restrictions and overwhelming bad news on TV and social media lately, we just wanted to get away and try to forget about all that. We live in San Diego, just a bit more inland. Although we were less than 30 minutes from home, it felt like we were a world away. The expansive 180-degree view of the ocean, the sound of the waves crashing, and the salty ocean air was just what we needed. Every morning when we woke up, we just marveled at the view and kind of had to pinch ourselves to realize we weren’t dreaming. We were a party of four: adult couple + 1 & 3 year old. The stuffed animals and sand toys were a super sweet added detail. The kitchen was well stocked. The dedicated parking was clutch. The entryway was a bit gritty/sandy, but there was a really nice cordless Dyson vacuum in the closet, so I was able to clean that up fairly easily. Anyhow, certainly nothing that would keep me from coming back. If you have young kids who are messy eaters, I recommend a Splat Mat to put under their chairs, as the dining table sits on carpet. We noticed this in the listing photos, so we planned ahead and brought one. Noteworthy features: AC units in every room. Automatic/electric light filtering shades as well as blackout shades. Dishwasher. WiFi. Garage parking spot as well as one driveway spot behind it. Window screens are metal and screwed in/secure (not your typical pop-our wire screen), which is a great safety feature I had been apprehensive about prior to arrival since I have tiny munchkins. White noise machines provided in both bedrooms (rental unit is on kind of a busy corner, so this definitely helped with keeping the littles sleeping soundly). Telescope. Sony headphones to use with TV in living room. Smart TV with access to several apps (Prime Video, Netflix, etc.). I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff, but overall a great experience. Perfect beachfront property!
This is the perfect beachfront property! Big glass windows made our stay so magical. It was fun watching all the surfers catch waves and seeing all the birds fly by. Being able to walk across the street to the beach was awesome and we probably spent more time there than in the property! Parking was also very convenient as the owners provide a space for you. If you have more than one vehicle, parking on the street is also a nonissue. The location is very close to downtown La Jolla, so you can do some shopping while you are in town. Best View in La Jolla!
This place has the best view from La Jolla where you can see the surf shack from the living room. It was great to just walk across the street and be able to sit under the surf shack - was great. You can also see all the surfers catching the waves. The location was really close to downtown where I was able to visit a store.
