The Hacienda

Honestly, the location of this home can’t be beat. You could save a few bucks somewhere else, but you’ll spend them all back Ubering all over the place. Over a long weekend, our group walked to every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) but one. The location is the activities. I would absolutely go back.

If you’re a very responsible renter and really take care of the home, this home will take care of you. Definitely feels like the cozy dream home everyone will love. With the cool arched doorway layout combine with balcony view of the ocean to wake to. Space was abundantly great and private with 6 rooms. Roof top was neatly arranged. Our family had a very fun time at the house! The rooms are all a great size and easily accommodated our group. The house was very clean - which is a challenge with a beach house! There is construction next door and as they stated, they lowered the price because of that. We lucked out that the construction was quiet during most of our stay, but it did get loud at the end of our stay. However, we spent most of the day at the beach or the bay, so it probably wouldn't have been much of an issue regardless. The house is located near a few restaurants which we really appreciated! It is also fun to people watch as people pass on the boardwalk while sitting on the deck. The main house and the apartment above are connected through walls, so you do hear normal sounds through the walls from the guests above in a few of the rooms. We didn't quite understand that before renting the place, but overall the people above us were quiet. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay!

I really hesitate to write this review because I’m sure that the more people that experience this house the more available dates will fill up.

We do an annual family vacation each summer and San Diego was it for 2024. The selection for beachfront homes is slim for a family of 14, but we found this one, which was fabulous for us all. We Loved: AC in each bedroom, awesome deck, hose by the gate brilliant, grill worked great, awesome parking, great comfortable beds, awesome hot tub. It was walking distance to wonderful restaurants and shops and centrally located for other attractions. We loved the public board walk and the sunsets were amazing….. We took advantage to support a couple local businesses to snorkel and surfing lessons right on Mission Beach. We will surely return and highly recommend it.

We had a lovely time staying here. Perfect location surrounded by many restaurants and bars. The extra parking spaces plus garage spaces (we booked the main house and the condo) are a huge bonus as we live locally and had many cars, and parking during summer months can be a challenge. Will definitely be booking again for next summer!

Beautiful house, and the beach-front location and views were awesome. The host (a professional management company) was responsive and helpful. The bedrooms were all comfortable, and they house was very clean as well. The kitchen, dining room and living room made for a nice gathering space - although they were a bit smaller than the photographs made them appear. Overall, I'd highly recommend this property!

If I ever go missing look for me here. The property is fantastic. Yes it is busy on the beach walk but that is part of the fun. Saw some amazing humorous things going on and no one was disrespectful. Parking is tight in the garages but there is room to park a Lincoln Navigator if you know how to drive. I did. I will be back and will rent the rooftop 2 bedroom unit also.

Great house! We stayed here as part of a vacation with two other families and it was great. The house is right on the beach, offering amazing views of the ocean and extremely easy access to all the beach has to offer. There is a very popular public boardwalk between the house and beach, but this didn’t bother us at all. In fact, we loved the people watching. The house itself was very high quality and clean. Didn’t find one thing wrong with it. And a special mention about the beds…very comfortable. Could tell they were newer/higher quality mattresses.

Just stay here if you can. The location and the open areas in the back/side are priceless. There are a few minor things which could be improve d, but the place is awesome as it is. If staying with kids check out the plunge pool and Belmont park.

This place was perfect for my family and friends! It is the best home away from home we have ever visited! If you are looking for white carpet and somewhere you are afraid to sit down, then this is not the place for you! This is a comfy, cozy place with lots of character. A place where you can put your feet up on the coffee table and relax while watching the waves break. The house is incredibly well stocked with everything you need to have a truly worry-free vacation. Plenty of towels, glasses, plates, silverware, and a dishwasher to take care of them. It had a blender for margaritas, surfboards for the teenagers and the B-B-Q could be used while watching the sunset on the ocean. The fire pit was perfect for the cool evenings and when it got a little too chilly, we would hop into the warm jacuzzi. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and clean. This place is a gem and a great time was had by all. We are already planning our next visit!!

This was a perfect getaway for my family during the pandemic. Sitting on the beach was not allowed, but we had a big beautiful deck to sit on, watch people walk on the beach, and enjoy surfing and waves. The management company was wonderful to work with. This property is an older beach home. This is all about location. We had a couple of minor issues but the management company was on top of it and everything worked out great. We really enjoyed our time at this house!

The home was perfect for our needs and the location was excellent (right between PB and MB). Even had a warm jacuzzi waiting our arrival. Definitely will be doing this again. A couple of minor deficiencies include sliding door on the side patio didn’t lock and was a lil difficult to open and close. Also couldn’t get outside power outlets working. Very MINOR deficiencies. Overall this home is awesome. It was clean, well stocked with pots pans, coffee makers (3) and other small necessities. Our family absolutely loved this home and will definitely be looking forward to doing this again. Thank you for sharing your home!!!

We loved the large wrap-around deck, gas grill, fire pit, hot tub, and spacious living and entertaining spaces. The kitchen is well-stocked, beds are comfy, and living room was warm and inviting. There are 3 bathrooms uniquely set up: one just shower within a bedroom, one toilet/sink, and one full bathroom - this situation worked for us just fine. It is an older home, especially considering everything around it has been torn down and rebuilt, but we loved the charming style and historic feel of the home, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. It is also located near a lifeguard stand, so a great place for kids and for parents to feel that they are safe and secure while in the water.

The house is ok, older, a bit worn down, strange bathroom layout (2nd shower) not ideal for large families. It has outside parking for 2 vehicles right outside house. It was clean it has what you need. Only negative during our stay was the fridge was missing a few shelves made our food storage a bit of a challenge and the sofabed did not work during our stay.

Things such as the firepit, jacuzzi, and the grill worked well. We didn't need help from management since everything was working as they should. PROS: Clean, plenty of space, great location, spacious patio, fire ring, grill, short 8-10 minute walk to Pacific beach and belmont, restaurants/bars within walking distance, great parking space. CONS: This is not the property's fault, but we didn't have any sunshine the first day and it rained the second day in the morning while we were there. But, it cleared up by noon with sunshine for the rest of our stay.

If the most important thing to you is a luxurious bathroom, you don't get that but the location makes up for it. Could use a better vacuum cleaner. There are more stand alone houses in south Mission Beach, but we prefer this location. The home was going to be remodeled this year, but the remodel is now another year away.

The bathrooms need to be updated(new tile and tub-they were pretty dirty and old looking) and hopefully combining the shower and closet toilet and sink. Cable in all the3 bedrooms and closets would be good though. Hopefully the deck will be replaced but keep it raised. That is such a plus and great asset to this house. As many visitors said it's one of the best on Mission Beach! Jacuzzi should be a keeper as well. Hope to stay again next summer :) (The maintenance staff were very good when needed - thank you.)

We had 8 plus the baby and were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, also...a big plus! Only thing to pass on is there is one full bath, one half bath, and a shower (by itself) in the master...odd...but it worked! Yes, we'd return...!! We stayed two months (January and February). It's a delightful place, a bit rustic-looking between the other monster three story mansions on Ocean Front Walk but it has everything we needed for the long stay. The added bonus was the staff at SDVR. They were very quick and efficient at dealing with every little issue that arose. Thanks again, everyone at SDVR for a great winter.

I got married on 10/3/15 and used this as the weekend crash pad for some of my groomsmen and their significant others, along with hosting a beachside brunch on Sunday. It was perfect and everything we could have asked for. It's not an immaculate $15M mansion like next door but the location is priceless and the value, particularly with winter pricing simply cannot be beat.

A rarity for Mission Beach. The downfalls would be the lack of air circulation for the rooms (including the master) off of the enclosed side patio, older kitchen and bath. The new couches are not very comfortable either. However, the home has been freshened up and is clean and comfortable over all. The management company is a block away and always attentive to any issues. Still our first choice to stay here every year.

Only a few complaints: the tub and tiles in main bathroom were extremely dirty. We had to clean before showering. There was no mirror in the room with the 2 beds and no hanging capability in the shower bedroom which made it hard. But overall we had a great experience and can't wait to come back next summer!

The only downer was the patio furniture wasn't great. Needed some cushions or something. Deck could also use a resurfacing. However, that wasn't too big of deal considering the rental property was great and so were the rental companies employees that I dealt with.

On the first day of our stay the spa had just been chlorinated and couldnt be used because of the overwhelming chemical smell for a couple of days. After about a week the smell from the spa now smelled dirty so we requested it be treated which was done the following day. Now the spa again couldnt be used because of the chlorine smell for two more days.

We were sad to see that the Green Flash was no longer in business. My only complaint on the house is the front deck boards need to be replaced. They are warping/ breaking and can be a safety hazard.

Would like you to work on getting deposits back to the owners quicker, mine took 17 days to get back into my account after my final stay and I had to call, talk with multiple people before they said that they "now" send my deposit back.

We had everything we needed for our family to be comfortable and entertained. The roof patio was incredible, the fire pit was a big hit, the living room and dining room provided us with enough room for entertaining our friends. We loved being able to enter the jacuzzi room to wash off our feet in the shower and then sit in the jacuzzi and be able to see the ocean. The front screen got stuck and there was already sand in the jacuzzi when we go there, but other than that, it was all a 5-star experience. My wife's birthday celebration at the beach was a smashing success due to her not being disappointed at all with this rental experience.

I agree that the kitchen could use a more items for cooking. The baths are small, but we managed. The house as a whole is older but comfortable. Bring a portable fan, as it is a bit hard to get air flow in the house. The rental company is only a few doors down and was very responsive.

My only suggestions would be the middle room needs a TV and the umbrellas out on the front porch need to be able to bend at the top to get more shade in the late afternoon- but other than that we absolutely love it!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Really nice property. My only feedback would be that the listing says two full bathrooms and in reality one if the bathrooms that they've counted is really a tiny tiny half bath (literally the size of a small hall closet). There was a separate shore built into the second bedroom but the set up made it difficult for our party if 6 getting showered and ready. Other than that.... Overall we had a very nice stay.
